Terms and conditions
Last updated 17 October 2026
These terms explain how Awayline works, what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. Please read them before you create an account. If you're 13 to 17, it's a good idea to read them with a parent or carer.
Who we are
Awayline (awayline.co.uk) is run by the Awayline team, based in the UK. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean the Awayline team. "You" means anyone using Awayline.
You can reach us through our contact form.
These terms are only available in English. We don't keep a separate copy of your agreement with us. This page is the current version.
Our privacy notice explains what we do with your personal information. It isn't part of these terms, but please read it too.
Agreeing to these terms
By using Awayline, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Awayline.
What Awayline is
Awayline is a free app for fans of the 92 Premier League and EFL clubs travelling to away games, mostly by train. It shows away fixtures, plans trains there and back, and tells you whether you can get home the same night. It suggests pubs near the ground that fit around your trains.
It also has:
- weather warnings
- guides to your rights when trains go wrong
- Delay Repay information
- Share my journey home, so family can follow you
With a free account you can save trips, see alerts in the app, track your season, reserve seats on supporters' coaches and plan group trips. Adults can also offer and ask for lifts, use trip chat, and check in at and rate pubs.
What Awayline isn't
- Not a travel agent or ticket seller. We don't sell train tickets, match tickets or coach seats, and we don't take payments.
- Not a transport provider. We don't run trains, coaches or lifts. Train companies run the trains. Supporters' club branches run the coaches. Fans arrange lifts between themselves.
- Not an official club service. Awayline is independent. It isn't connected with, approved or endorsed by any football club, the Premier League, the EFL, National Rail, Realtime Trains or any train company. Club names are used only to say which games we mean.
- Not professional advice. Our guides to tickets, fares, Delay Repay and your rights as a passenger are plain-English summaries. They aren't legal or financial advice.
It's free
Awayline is free to use. You don't need an account to plan a trip.
Your account
You sign in with your email address. We email you a 6-digit code or a link. There's no password.
- Use an email address that's yours and that only you can get into.
- Don't share your sign-in codes with anyone. We will never ask you for one.
- Keep your account to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on it, unless someone got in through no fault of yours.
- If you think someone else has used your account, use "Sign out on other phones" in your account and tell us through our contact form.
Your display name shows to other fans. Don't use your real name. Don't pick a name that's offensive, or that pretends to be someone else, the club, a supporters' club or Awayline.
Age limits
You must be 13 or over to have an account
When you first sign in, we ask for your month and year of birth. If you're under 13, we won't create an account. Ask a parent or carer to plan the trip with you. Anyone can plan a trip without an account.
If you're 13 to 17
You can save trips, see alerts, use My season, view the leaderboard, reserve seats on supporters' coaches, and start or join group trips. You can't use lifts, trip chat, pub check-ins or pub ratings, and you can't be listed on the leaderboard.
Around your 18th birthday, your account automatically gets the adult features the next time you use Awayline. You'll then confirm your date of birth before using lifts, chat or pubs.
Lifts, chat and pubs are for adults only
Before you can use lifts, trip chat, pub check-ins or ratings, we ask for your full date of birth once. You tick a box to confirm it's true. This is the date of birth check.
The check relies on what you tell us. We don't look at documents or use an age-checking company, so we can't promise that every fan using these features is an adult. Stay alert, and report anything that worries you.
If the date you give shows you're under 18, your account is treated as a 13 to 17 account until your 18th birthday. Trying a different date won't undo it.
If you made a mistake, or think we've got your age wrong, tell us through our contact form and pick "A complaint, or to appeal a decision about my account, my posts or my age band". A person will look at it. We may ask you to show us your age before we change it.
Giving a false date of birth, or helping someone under 18 get into adult features, breaks these terms. We may close your account if you do.
Using Awayline fairly
Please don't:
- use Awayline to break the law, or to help someone else break it
- try to get round the age limits, sign-in or security, or get into another fan's account
- buy, sell or swap match tickets through Awayline
- advertise, sell things or spam other fans
- pretend to be someone else, including the club, a supporters' club, an organiser or Awayline
- collect other fans' details, or copy Awayline's information in bulk with bots or scrapers
- overload Awayline or interfere with how it works. We limit how often some things can be done, to keep it working for everyone
- use Awayline for a business. It's for personal use, though supporters' club organisers can use Club admin to run their coaches
Selling a football ticket without the club's permission can be a criminal offence. Club ticket rules usually ban passing tickets on too.
Chat, lifts and other things you post
You're responsible for what you post. That includes chat messages, lift posts, your display name, group names and notes, and pub ratings.
Be decent. Don't post anything that:
- is abusive, hateful or harassing, including about someone's race, religion, sex, sexuality, disability or where they're from
- threatens anyone, or encourages violence or disorder
- supports terrorism
- is sexual or pornographic
- involves anyone under 18 in anything sexual. We report this to the police
- shares intimate images of someone without their consent
- promotes or encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders
- encourages drink driving or anything else that puts people in danger
- is a scam, or tries to get money out of people
- shares someone else's personal details, like their phone number or address, without their OK
- offers or asks for match tickets
- breaks the law, or copies someone else's work without permission
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us permission to store it and show it in Awayline for as long as we keep it, as our privacy notice explains. For example, chat messages are deleted 30 days after the game.
Reporting, blocking and what we can do
You can report a chat message or a lift with the Report button on it. Pick the reason that fits best. Reports go to our moderators. Moderators don't see who made a report.
You can also block a fan. You then won't see each other's lifts or chat messages.
To report anything else, such as a group trip, a display name or a pub rating, or to tell us more, use our contact form and pick "Report a fan, a chat message or a lift".
Here's what can happen when something breaks these terms:
- A chat message reported by 3 different fans is hidden automatically until a moderator looks at it.
- Moderators can hide a chat message, or show it again if it's fine.
- We can remove a lift or anything else you've posted.
- For serious or repeated breaches, we can stop you using lifts, chat and pubs, or close your account.
- We may pass reports of crimes or credible threats to the police.
Moderators are people, and we can't watch everything as it happens. Some of these steps are done by hand, so they can take time. In an emergency, call 999. On a train or at a station, text British Transport Police on 61016.
If we hide or remove something of yours, or act on your account, and you think we got it wrong, tell us through our contact form and pick "A complaint, or to appeal a decision about my account, my posts or my age band". A person will look at it again.
Lifts
Fans arrange lifts between themselves
Lifts let adult fans offer a spare seat, or ask for one, for an away game. Awayline shows the post and, once the fan who posted it accepts a reply, shows each side the contact details the other chose to share. Any arrangement is between the driver and the passengers. We aren't part of it, and we don't run or organise the journey.
We don't check drivers or cars
Drivers tick a checklist before they offer a lift. We don't check any of it. We don't check anyone's identity, age, driving licence, insurance, MOT or driving record, or the state of the car. Decide for yourself whether you're happy to travel with someone. If you're not, don't get in.
If you're driving
It's your responsibility to make sure that:
- you're 18 or over and hold a full driving licence
- your insurance covers the trip and covers you for giving lifts
- your car is roadworthy, taxed and has a valid MOT if it needs one
- you drive a car with no more than 8 passenger seats, and carry no more passengers than there are seatbelts
- you don't drink on the day, and you drive within the law
Don't use Awayline to arrange lifts in a minibus or any vehicle with more than 8 passenger seats.
Share costs, don't make a profit
Lifts are for sharing the cost of the journey, not for making money. Agree a fair share of fuel before you set off. Nobody should make a profit. No money goes through Awayline. Taking more than your costs can mean you need a private hire licence, and can leave you without insurance cover.
Under-18s
Lifts are for fans aged 18 and over. Don't use Awayline to arrange a lift for anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian is driving their own child, sort that out between yourselves, outside the app.
Staying safe
- Meet in a public place, never at someone's home.
- Tell a mate whose car you're in and when you expect to be home.
- Your contact details only show once the fan who posted the lift accepts, and we delete them a week after the game. Once you've shared them, we can't take them back from the other person.
- If anything feels wrong, don't go, and report it.
- In an emergency, call 999. On a train or at a station, text British Transport Police on 61016.
Supporters' coaches
Supporters' club organisers can list coaches for away games in Awayline. Each coach is run by the supporters' club branch that lists it, not by us.
- Your agreement is with the branch. When you reserve a seat, you're asking the branch running the coach for a place on it. The price, payment, refunds, pick-ups, timings and rules on the coach are between you and that branch.
- We don't take payment. Pay the way the organiser tells you, usually on the coach. The organiser marks you as paid.
- Times are set by the organiser. That includes pick-up times and when the coach leaves after the game. Check with them if you're not sure.
- Changing or cancelling. You can change or cancel your booking in the app until the day of the trip. The branch's own rules decide whether you get any money back.
- If a coach is cancelled, it disappears from Awayline. We may not be able to tell you, so keep in touch with the branch.
- Use your real full name, so the organiser has the right passenger list.
- Access needs. If you add them, they're shared with organisers so they can help. If you change your booking later, type them in again and tick the box, or they'll be removed. If something is essential, tell the organiser directly as well.
If you're an organiser
You're responsible for running your coach: hiring it, collecting money, and dealing with refunds and problems on the day. Use passenger details only to run the trip. Keep them safe, and delete any passenger list you download within 30 days after the trip.
Group trips
Any fan with an account can start a group trip for a game and share its join link. A group can have up to 30 fans, including the one who started it.
- Anyone with the join link can join, so only share it with people you know.
- Members see each other's display names, who started the group, the trains the fan who started it picks, and the group note.
- A group doesn't book or buy anything. Everyone buys their own tickets.
- If the fan who started the group leaves it, the group is deleted for everyone.
- Groups don't have a Report button. To report a problem in a group, use our contact form.
- If you're under 18, only join groups with people you know in real life, like family and friends.
Pubs, check-ins and ratings
Our pub suggestions and labels are general guidance based on club away guides and our own research. Pubs can change their door policy on the day, and police can close or restrict pubs on matchdays. Check before you go, and do what staff and police tell you.
Adults can check in at a pub on matchday and rate pubs they've been to. Only rate a pub if you've really been there. Anyone can see how many fans have checked in at a pub that day, and each pub's average rating.
Please drink responsibly, and never drink and drive.
Train times, fixtures and other information
We take care with the information in Awayline, but a lot of it comes from other sources and some of it is our estimate. Please treat it as a guide.
- Fixtures come from ESPN, with TheSportsDB as a backup. Dates and kick-off times can move, for example for TV.
- Train times and live running come from Realtime Trains. Timetables can change, especially more than 12 weeks ahead. Live running is usually no more than 10 minutes old, but it can be older, for example when Awayline is busy or Realtime Trains' limits are reached.
- Full time is our estimate: 1 hour 55 minutes after kick-off, with more allowed for extra time and penalties. Walking times and time allowed for changes are estimates too.
- "You'll be home tonight" is our best estimate, not a promise. Trains get delayed and cancelled, and games run late. Give yourself time, and have a back-up plan.
- Weather comes from Open-Meteo. Forecasts can be wrong.
- Pubs, grounds, step-free access and ticket notes come from club away guides and the other sources we name. They can be out of date.
- Our guides to fares, group tickets, Delay Repay, your rights and games that move are general. Your ticket's conditions and each train company's own scheme decide what you're owed. We don't make Delay Repay claims for you.
Before you travel, and before you buy tickets, check with the train company or National Rail. Check pafc.co.uk for match tickets and kick-off times.
"Share my journey home" links stop working after 6 hours, and can stop sooner, for example if we restart Awayline. Don't rely on one as the only way your family knows where you are.
If you spot something wrong, please tell us through our contact form.
Links to other websites
Awayline links to other websites, such as train companies, National Rail, Trainline, TrainSplit and the club. They aren't ours, and we aren't responsible for them, what they say or what they sell. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. We don't get paid for these links. If that changes, we'll say so next to the link.
Our content and other people's
Awayline's design, code and writing belong to us. Fixture, train and weather information belongs to the sources we credit. Club and company names belong to their owners. You're welcome to use Awayline and share links to it, but please don't copy large parts of it or its information.
Keeping Awayline running
We want Awayline to be there when you need it, but we can't promise it always will be. It's free, and it relies on other services. Sometimes it will be slow or down, or some features won't work. For example, Realtime Trains limits how often we can check trains.
We may change, pause or stop features, or Awayline as a whole. If we plan to close Awayline, we'll try to give you notice so you can download your data.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit or exclude
These terms don't affect your legal rights as a consumer. Citizens Advice can tell you more about them.
We'll use reasonable care and skill in running Awayline. If we break these terms, or don't take reasonable care, we're responsible for loss or damage you could expect to result. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if we both knew it might happen when you started using Awayline.
We aren't responsible for:
- loss that wasn't foreseeable
- what other people and organisations do or don't do, including train companies, the club, supporters' club organisers in running their coaches, coach companies, pubs, drivers and other fans. This doesn't cover people acting for us, such as moderators, or organisers when they use Awayline's tools
- problems caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as the information sources we rely on going down
- business losses, because Awayline is for personal use
Because Awayline is free, our total responsibility to you for anything else is limited to £100. This limit doesn't apply to the things listed at the start of this section, or to your rights under data protection law.
Ending your account
If you want to leave
You can delete your account at any time from your account in the app. We'll email you a code to confirm it's you. Our privacy notice explains what's deleted straight away and what we keep.
If we need to end it
We may suspend or close your account, or stop you using some features, if:
- you seriously or repeatedly break these terms
- you gave a false date of birth
- we need to, to protect other fans or to follow the law
Where it's safe and lawful, we'll tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, contact us through our contact form.
If we close Awayline, accounts will close too. We'll try to give notice first.
Changes to these terms
We'll only change these terms to reflect new or changed features, changes in the law, or safety and security needs. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
If a change makes a real difference to you, we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless the law or safety needs it sooner. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then. If you keep using Awayline after a change, the new terms apply.
Complaints and reporting
To report a chat message or a lift, use the Report button on it. For anything else, use our contact form.
If you're unhappy with Awayline, or with how we've dealt with something, tell us through our contact form and pick "A complaint, or to appeal a decision about my account, my posts or my age band". We'll look into it and reply to the email address you give.
For complaints about how we use your personal information, see our privacy notice.
Other legal points
- If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may pass Awayline, and these terms, to someone else who will run it. If we do, we'll tell you, and it won't reduce your rights under these terms.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms. Nobody else can enforce them.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
